Bulky Waste

What is Bulky Waste?

Items which are too large to be collected by the regular waste collection vehicles are referred to as bulky waste. Such waste includes:

  • Furniture
  • Mattresses
  • Carpets
  • Tiles
  • Appliances
  • White goods
  • Electronic waste
  • Tyres
  • Green Waste
  • Construction Waste

How can one dispose of Bulky Waste?

The General Public may dispose of bulky waste by:

  • Calling their Local Council to further inquire about the Bulky Refuse Service, which is offered free of charge in each locality;

Or by visiting one of Wasteserv's Civic Amenity sites, which also offer a free daily service.

Commercial Entities must follow a different procedure, namely:

  • Contact a licensed waste contractor to transport the waste
  • Use a company vehicle to transport the waste. In this case, the company must first register as a waste carrier with The Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) and also register with Wasteserv by filling the form in this link.  Subsequently, the company must also obtain a waste transfer note from Wasteserv by filling up the enquiry form.  For details on where different waste streams must be taken, please check out our Guidelines for Commercial Waste.

In the case of Contractors sub-contracted by a Local Council to collect residential bulky refuse, this waste may be deposited at the Civic Amenity sites, as instructed by the respective Local Council. A consignment permit and a consignment note will be required to allow access.
