Building on our waste separation success story together

PRESS RELEASE BY THE MINISTRY FOR THE ENVIRONMENT, CLIMATE CHANGE AND PLANNING

During a visit at the offices of OZO Group – an example of good practice in waste separation within private entities – Minister for the  Environment, Climate Change and Planning Aaron Farrugia announced that training will be given to all government departments, which will enable them to make the right decisions when it comes to waste management.

With this, WasteServ will be able to provide further guidelines with the aim of reducing the volume of waste generated in these departments based on the principles of reduce, reuse, recycle.

Following the success of waste separation at home, WasteServ will be extending these practices within the public sector and private entities. All government entities have been provided with separate bins to facilitate waste separation.

Minister Farrugia also said that WasteServ will be offering training to private entities interested in improving the waste separation system at their workplace, free of charge.

Minister Farrugia praised the efforts of OZO Group to implement environmental measures such as efficient waste management mechanisms, and the use of electric cars.

WasteServ CEO Richard Bilocca explained that such initiatives are imperative as the country will be drastically improving its waste management infrastructure, and that the participation of the general public is crucial for this infrastructure to be able to deliver the desired results.

This initiative is part of the Sort-It-Out campaign and is part-financed by the European Union through the Cohesion Fund.
