Wasteserv Malta - Zero Waste
Zero Waste

The project “Promoting ZEROWASTE” bearing the acronym “ZEROWASTE PRO” was officially launched in July 2013 and aims to capitalize on methods and tools that have been produced under other co-financed projects for zero waste management schemes.  The 11 European organisations involved in the project are focusing on the three main pillars of zerowaste philosophy: Prevention, Reuse and Recycling, promoting best practices and tools.

Project activities:

  • The production of a guide on green waste management solutions aimed at public administrations
  • Training on Green Waste Management solutions in the participating regions, to ensure local government retains the knowledge which is gained from the project
  • Production of an educational tool about recycling to be distributed to teachers
  • Creation of an online network for stakeholders and specialists to meet virtually and share their information
  • Information days, workshops and conferences
  • Project newsletters for distribution among relevant stakeholders
  • CO2 Calculator handbook: Instructions for using the CO2 online tool which helps measure the CO2 footprint of Municipalities and Regions
  • White Paper on SMEs and Industrial Areas in relation to the production and management of waste

The project will run until December 2014 and is funded by ERDF through the European Territorial Cooperation Programme MED 2007-2013 and National Resources. Lead partner is the EGTC EFXINI POLI - Network of European Cities for Sustainable Development.
